Clubs Charity

Broughton House

In the wake of World War II, Heaton Park Golf club members decided to adopt Broughton House as its dedicated charity. The care and assistance provided to wounded veterans was a cause very close to the hearts of many of our members at the time. In order to raise funds, the Broughton House Trophy was introduced and is competed for by members every year. Members were asked to make a minimum donation which is currently set at the competition entry fee.

Message from our Social Secretary:

“As a club, we donate money every year toward Broughton House, which is a residential and nursing care home situated in Salford, Greater Manchester, that has been caring for the wider Service family since 1916. They offer fantastic care and a fulfilling well-being program in a warm, homely environment.

As an ex-serviceman myself, I, and all the members of our club appreciate what Broughton House does for the ex-Service people. A few of us have been there a few times to see what they do and to hand over a cheque, money that has been donated by our members, to their charity.

The staff are always very friendly and helpful to us when we go, and eventhough it is a relatively small amount we donate, every penny helps towards the upkeep of the building and to help the residents.”
